Four Mid West regional charities are setting the pace with a challenge for keen runners, joggers and walkers to take on the ultimate challenge by participating in the Great Limerick Run on 6th May 2012. As part of a joint campaign ‘Set The Pace’ they are asking you to go the distance to raise vital funds for your chosen charity. The four charities Rape Crisis Midwest, St. Gabriel’s School & Centre, Mid West Simon Community and Milford Hospice each provide vital services and support in their respective fields within the Mid-West Region. The Rape Crisis Midwest assists survivors of rape and sexual abuse, whilst St. Gabriel’s School & Centre provides services to children with disabilities. Meanwhile Mid West Simon Community reaches out to people experiencing homelessness and Milford Hospice offer Specialist Palliative Care In-patient and Community Services.
The challenge is to turn your marathon performance into an opportunity to raise funds for your chosen charity. You can strike out on your own or get a group of friends, fellow runners, family, classmates or colleagues to form a team. Once you have registered with the Great Limerick Run and made contact with your chosen charity, you can proceed to adopt a team fundraising name, plan your training schedule and set a fund target. Your chosen charity will provide you with a sponsorship pack. So go on! Go those extra miles to support your local charity; you’ll be a winner regardless of your finish time on the big day.
