Low self-esteem affects many people in our society giving rise to issues such as stress, relationship problems, anxiety and feelings of defectiveness. Low self-esteem essentially leads to a lower quality of life. A person’s quality of life reflects the level of self-esteem that they feel. Many of us believe we know what self-esteem is, but can we describe it? Do we know how to measure our self-esteem?
Having dreams and aspirations is fantastic but if someone’s self-esteem is so low that they don’t believe they deserve better. A person with low self-esteem could end up sabotaging the good things that can and do come into their life. Self-esteem is an essential component in a person’s mental health and for a person’s self-actualisation. We believe and understand self-esteem as an invitation to get to know yourself.
