A.B.C. For Mental Health to host Green Ribbon Family Day
A.B.C. For Mental Health is holding a Green Ribbon Family Day on Sunday, May 21 in Limerick Milk Market between 12-4:30 pm, with information stalls, music and children’s entertainment (face painting, clown, magician & sword fighting).
In May See Change, the National Stigma Reduction Partnership is rolling out a month-long national green ribbon campaign to get people talking openly about mental health problems.
A.B.C. For Mental Health have been and will continue to host lunchtime talks throughout the month of May in the Hunt Museum. On May 3rd they held a talk entitled ‘Let’s Talk About Suicide Prevention’ with Ger McNamara, Chairperson of Limerick Suicide Watch as the guest speaker.
On May 10th the lunchtime talk was named ‘Shedding light on Schizophrenia and Bipolar’ with guest speaker Owen Finnegan. The most recent lunchtime talk was held on May 17th and was entitled ‘What is Positive Mental Health’ with Eleanor McSherry as guest speaker.
The final two lunchtime talks in the month of May will be held on the May 24th and May 31st respectively. The first talk is named ‘Five Little Triumphs’ and Jen Ronan will be the guest speaker. The latter will be ‘Awareness Through Movement’ with guest speaker Stephen Wallace
The main event of May See Change for A.B.C. for Mental Health will be the Green Ribbon Family Day in the Milk Market on Sunday, May 21st. It is so important to promote open conversation of mental health and challenging the stigma of mental health problems. Alone we can do little, together we can do so much.
A.B.C. For Mental Health is an organisation set up to promote a healthy and open attitude towards Mental Health. A.B.C. For Mental Health aims to promote mental health awareness, to reduce the stigma that is attached to mental health and to network with all the different organisation so we can work together to support people who experience mental health difficulties.
