Association of Irish Choirs workshop on vocal health and production will be a can’t miss event in UL!

Many choir singers request help with vocal production issues or maybe, just need a refresher on the basics of healthy, natural singing techniques, such as breath control, support, and posture. The Association of Irish Choirs workshop teaches efficient ways for the body to support the voice by exploring natural techniques and vocal exercises as well as warm-ups that enable the singer to use their body to maximize their vocal potential to support their voice. The workshop will be delivered by Alan Leech on February 18, 2018, in University of Limerick.

Alan Leech is one of Ireland’s leading tenors and choral practitioners. He has been a member of Chamber Choir Ireland for the last 14 years, where he also facilitates their education projects. Alan also teaches Voice at an undergraduate level in St Patrick’s College, Dublin City University. Working both as a professional singer and singing teacher is central to Alan’s significant contribution to the greater choral community in Ireland.

He has worked as a vocal consultant for the Association of Irish Choirs on their annual Choral Conducting Summer School, and for the Ulster Youth Choir. He is also a tutor for the Irish Youth Choir. Outside of the traditional choir world, Alan has facilitated workshops in Coolmine Rehabilitation and also Cork prison. Alan’s extensive experience and abilities in the choir area have led to invitations from several bodies to develop choir programmes both with young and older people.

The workshop will run on February 18, 2018 from 11am-2:30pm in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick. It costs €25 for members of AOIC and €30 for non-members. Places subject to availability as places are limited, so be sure to register soon!
