Castleconnell Community meeting aims to Put the Unity in Community

To advance the next phase of actions set out within the plan the community of Castleconnell is invited to a Castleconnell Community meeting to be held in the Castle Oaks Hotel on Tuesday, November 26 at 8 pm. The village of Castleconnell was out in force during a Three Session Workshop held in association with Ballyhoura Development CLG last year.

The nature of the workshop was to develop the Ahane, Castleconnell & Montpelier Community Plan 2019-2023. The plan was prepared by the community, supported by the staff of Ballyhoura Development and facilitated by Paul O Raw & Associates, Niall Heenan, and Dr. Shane O Sullivan. A number of projects have been completed this year including the provision of outdoor exercise equipment at the Ferry, the establishment of a local business and trader’s group, street signage in the village center, and new footpaths, improved lighting and additional landscaping.

The aim of the Castleconnell Community meeting is to establish dedicated community stakeholder groups for the following themes, Local Area Plan/Council Interface, Transport, Local Business/Commercial, Tourism, Amenities/Facilities, Youth and Community Coordination.

“The support, guidance, and enthusiasm invested by members of the community as a whole was instrumental in putting this plan together, now it is time to show what has been achieved thus far and to set about the next phase,” said Tara Hartigan, LOVE Castleconnell

Dr. Catriona Cahill from the Limerick Chamber will be giving a short briefing on the progress of the Limerick Metropolitan area transport strategy, and there will be presentations from Castleconnell Tidy Towns and the local Business Group. “The Castleconnell Community came out in their droves for the Community Workshops, we had the highest attendance level of the whole project and we are excited for the next chapter” Breda Casey, Chairperson ACM The Ahane, Castleconnell.
