Cliona’s Foundation is delighted to be one of the charity partners of the Bon Secours Hospital Great Limerick Run and is looking for people to join their purple platoon on the 6th May and help them support families of sick children.
“You can run, walk or even crawl and have the option of doing the 6 miles, half or full marathon, We just want to have you with us,” said Phil Deegan of Cliona’s Foundation.
“We still have a number of discount codes that we can offer expires on the 13th April so we would love to hear from anyone interested as soon as possible.
Even if you have registered already you can still make the decision to run in Purple for Cliona’s Foundation.
As a member of the purple platoon you will have access to our base camp on O’ Connell Street before and after your event – to leave in your belongings, catch up with other participants and have post-event refreshments There was a great buzz in base camp last year and we know it will be the same again this May.”
Cliona’s Foundation provides financial assistance to families of sick children all over the country to help with the hidden non medical costs of caring for their child over a long period of time. These costs can , include accommodation, food, petrol and other miscellaneous expenses incurred by families who must take sick children to hospitals or other medical facilities for frequent treatments. No other national charity in Ireland offers financial support for non-medical costs and over the past 11 years, Clionas Foundation has supported over 500 families across 29 Counties.
“We have seen a huge increase in the number of applications over the past 12 months, all of them deserving of our support. However, we rely totally on fundraising initiatives and currently due to a lack of funds have 18 families on our waiting list. This is why we would love to get more people wearing purple for us and raising some funds (no matter how small and our profile. Anything at all will make a difference “ said Phil
