Limerick-based singer-songwriter Conor Ward celebrates the launch of new single

Dolans Presents have announced that Limerick-based singer-songwriter Conor Ward will return to the Kasbah to celebrate the launch of his new single. Entitled “Hope” the single addresses the issue of mental health.

Ward will mark the launch of his single playing the Kasbah on Friday, October 12th with all proceeds on the night going to both Limerick Suicide Watch and Pieta House. Conor will be joined on the night by his band and a host of special guests.

Originally from Mayo, Conor spent a number of years travelling the world, performing in a variety of venues in Dubai, Vietnam, Thailand, Bolivia and Peru.

Upon basing himself in Limerick, he released his debut single, “Stuck”, and released his debut EP, “Wanderlust” last year.  His indie-folk sound draws inspiration from the likes of Ray La Montagne and Ben Harper, as well as icons such as Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan.

His debut EP comprised 4 songs, including a duet with the local musician Emma Langford. The songs featured on the EP were an exploration of the experiences and observations of Conor’s time spent travelling incorporating a mix of upbeat catchy pop songs with melancholic acoustic ballads.

Ward has been described by Hot Press magazine as a ‘rising act to keep an eye on’. Since the launch of his EP he has played venues all over Ireland including playing support slots for Hermitage Green at the Roisin Dubh and The Stunning at Dolan’s Warehouse, as well headlining a show of his own in the iconic Whelan’s venue in Dublin.

Ward’s new single is a very personal one for the artist. Speaking about the release Conor said: “I feel when I’m writing, if I’m passionate about the topic, the material flows naturally. At the core of the song is a hope for open dialogue about mental health and breaking the stigma associated with it. The ultimate message is one of hope.

He describes his new single as a ‘poignant yet infectiously catchy indie pop song’.

Conor is delighted to be in a position to use the launch of his single as a vehicle for raising much-needed funds for two local charities that are close to his heart.

“The idea of doing the show as a fundraiser felt like the right thing to do. I have massive admiration for the amazing work that the two charities do for the community and I want to contribute to them in any small way I can”, he says.

Conor Ward will launch his new single at the Kasbah on October 12th. Tickets for the gig are on sale now and can be purchased on Dolan’s website or by contacting the Dolans box office on 061 314483.
