Munster Rugby player Keith Earls has launched Limerick’s first coffee roasting company, Eleven14.

Announced on International Coffee Day, October 1, Eleven14 started with Earls roasting coffee at home as a hobby.

The Moyross winger has now turned this hobby into a coffee bean brand, with four different varieties available.

Eleven14 offers coffee-lovers three South American roasts with starkly different profiles, as well as one decaf blend.

Currently available to buy on the Eleven14 website, Earls coffee roasts will appear in Limerick cafes in the coming weeks and months.

The brand’s name combines the Munster and international player’s two positions on the field, number 11 and number 14.

The sportsman credits rugby with sparking his love of good coffee.

“Throughout my 15-year professional rugby career, I have been lucky to travel the world, witnessing and experiencing vastly different cultures,” says Earls.

“No matter what continent we were on, no matter what team was playing, coffee was the commodity that bound us together.”

Intent on creating high-quality roasts, Earls has embarked on a journey of extensive research in sourcing and roasting beans to the highest standard.

“I started roasting coffee using a popcorn maker at home in my kitchen, sourcing green beans from various sources around the world and experimenting with the roast profile,” tells Earls.

“I delved deeper and deeper into learning the art of roasting, seeking help and guidance from established roasteries, mixing various profiles and flavours.”
