The Hayes family Christmas Lights have raised €5,667 in aid of St. Gabriel’s Foundation Respite House.

“Anyone that visited the Hayes home this Christmas is sure to agree that the show they put on this year was a joy to behold,” a representative for St. Gabriels commented.
“To Cormac, Mrs Hayes and every single person who supported the appeal, thank you from everyone at St. Gabriel’s Foundation. Plans are already underway to make Christmas 2022 even better! Although we are not quite sure how you’ll top it!”

The Hayes family Christmas Lights, Shanagolden, V94 NC3F, will switch on their Winter Wonderland display of Christmas lights to the public on Saturday, November 6, at 5pm.
Every year, the Hayes support Milford Hospice and The Children Ark Unit at University Hospital Limerick with funds raised from their Christmas lights, and this year they are adding St. Gabriel’s to the list.
St Gabriel’s is dedicated to the care and education of children with multiple physical disabilities.
Milford Care Centre is a voluntary, non-profit organisation and registered charity. They aim to provide the highest quality of care to patients or residents, family, and friends, both in the areas of palliative care and services to the older person.
Many families in Limerick have had some connection with Milford Hospice, be it directly or indirectly. They are a massive support to the community of Limerick, there is not a family in Limerick that hasn’t been supported by Milford Hospice.
The Children’s Ark is the paediatric unit at the University Hospital Limerick and is made up of three main areas. The Rainbow War is for babies and young children up to three years of age, the Sunshine ward is for children from three years up to sixteen years and the Caterpillar Day Ward is for children who need oncology care and it is shared with Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital Crumlin.
The Children’s Ark also has a school that caters to the educational needs of children and young people in the hospital.
Cormac Hayes said “We started in 1997 it has grown for years our biggest inspiration was our dad, my dad started the tradition. It brings people together and at the end of the day, it is nice to give back to charity. People come from all over, Cork, Waterford, Clare and we promote it well on social media. The more people that come to see the display the more donations you can raise.”
The Hayes have revealed that they have a huge line-up prepared, but are keeping it under wraps for now, telling people to keep an eye out on their Facebook and Instagram.
They have promised that this year’s display will be their biggest display to date with a new range of items to bring a smile to everyone’s face.
Last year, their display brought joy and hope to many families during the dark times we lived through during Covid-19.
The Hayes family would also like to extend their sincere sympathies to all those who have lost their lives through these difficult times.
Last year, The Hayes family raised an incredible €13,000 for Milford Hospice and The Children’s Ark at University Hospital Limerick with their incredible Christmas light display of up to almost 300,000 lights, and hope that this year will be just as successful.
