Thirty-three companies across Limerick have been nominated for awards in the annual Chamber Regional Business Awards. The shortlist of companies across 11 categories was revealed at a special breakfast event in the Greenhills Hotel at the Ennis Road. These categories will honour community and voluntary sector, and employers which make an effort to develop the talent in their workplace.

Limerick Chamber and Limerick Institute of Technology hold the annual Limerick Chamber Regional Business Awards. The awards are designed to acknowledge companies in the local region who strive for success each day. The awards recognise the hard work, commitment and innovative approach each company has showcased which has contributed to the growth of the company and in turn the region itself.

Chamber chief executive Dr James Ring says, as ever, the quality of the entrants to the awards – now in their seventh year – is impressive.

“A lot of our entrants would be long-standing businesses, so that would be encouraging to see. The numbers have gone up again this year. We are just shy of 200 entries this year,” Dr Ring said.

In the last few weeks, an independent panel of judges has been whittling the entries down to just three in each category. The Awards are judged by a panel of industry experts drawn from the senior management teams from a variety of industries. Of the 11 categories, one will be named Limerick Chamber regional business of the year.

Chamber president Ken Johnson will also hand over a special ‘lifetime achievement’ style award to an individual at the black-tie gala event in the Strand Hotel next Friday, November 17.
