Limerick Youth Service National Bike Week celebrated with two free bike repair workshops

As part of the National Bike Week cycling festival, Limerick Youth Service (LYS) will hold two bike repair workshops at The Factory Southside Youth Space and the Northside Youth Space on Monday, June 11th and Thursday, June 14th respectively.

The ‘Repair Your Rothar’ workshop is open to all members of the public who are invited to bring their bicycles, be they high nellies, tricycles or high-speed mountain bikes, to be fixed. ‘Punctures, brakes, saddle adjustments or even scrapping away the old rust, we can do it all,’ said Des Galligan, LYS’ Bike Project.

‘Simply bring your bike to our youth spaces in Galvone and Ballynanty and our team will transform it for you,’ said Des, adding ‘we’ll have plenty of activities to keep up entertained while you wait.’

The event at The Factory will run from 10am-6pm on Monday, June 11th with the Northside workshop open for business on Thursday, June 14th from 3-6pm. The workshops are also a great opportunity for young people and their families to explore the Southside and Northside Youth Spaces and learn more about LYS’ Bike Project.

The Factory Southside Youth Space is located at Galvone Business Park while the Northside Youth
Space is based at Ballyanty, Limerick. For further information please contact LYS at 061-142444 or via email at [email protected].

Supported by Limerick Smarter Travel, National Bike Week runs from Saturday, June 11th to 17th and is a celebration and promotion of all that's great about bikes and cycling. LYS’ Bike Project is based at The Factory Southside Youth Space and is supported by the Irish Youth Foundation, Cycling Ireland and Limerick City & County Council.

A member of Youth Work Ireland, LYS remains committed to connecting with and supporting young people to reach their full potential.
