Live 95 are delighted to announce their support to a new and exciting initiative ‘Live 95 Helping Limerick Children’ to raise funds and increase awareness around Limerick City and County for three amazing charities: Children’s Grief Centre, Cliona’s and CARI Limerick.

Station Director of Live 95, Joe Nash had this to say “As you know, through the efforts of Live 95 listeners, over €650,000 has been raised for ill and vulnerable children in Limerick in recent years, which is a superb achievement, by any measure. This was only possible through the unbelievable support of the Limerick public and we hope you will help us once again.” The launch of the new Live 95 brand and station logo was seen as a perfect opportunity to review, rebrand and refresh our approach to raising awareness and funds for these three great causes, which all help Limerick children in different ways.

This review was carried out in partnership with their existing charities and after much deliberation, Dr Roy Philip and his colleagues at the Children’s Ark and Neo-Natal Unit decided to voluntarily step back from the charity initiative. They are happy to give another Limerick children’s charity a chance to be involved and are grateful for the funding that they have received. Live 95 said, “We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for their involvement over the past number of years and wish them well in the future.”

As a result, Children’s Grief Centre has come on board this year, alongside Cliona’s and CARI Limerick to work towards this year’s goal of €95,000. Children’s Grief Centre, run by Sister Helen Culhane’s and her team, provides important support for local children affected by grief through bereavement and separation.

Founder of the Children’s Grief Centre, Sister Helen expressed her delight at being involved. “It’s wonderful to be involved with other charities that are making a real impact on children and their families. I have watched with admiration the support Live 95 have given over the past number of years, it’s a privilege now to be part of this initiative along with Cliona’s and CARI Limerick.”

Cliona’s provides financial assistance to families of children with a seriously sick child to help with the non-medical costs of caring for their child over a prolonged period of time. Brendan Ring, Co-Founder of Cliona’s and Mary Madden, CARI Limerick are excited for the year, the new brand, fresh approach and working alongside the Children’s Grief Centre. Brendan Ring said, “The three charities are again a very natural fit, as supporting children and their families are central to everything we do.”

CARI is a leading voluntary organisation with a proven track record in providing child-centred specialised therapy and support to children, families and groups affected by child sexual abuse.

Live 95 Helping Limerick Children is reaching out to the business community, schools, clubs, societies and the general public to come up with fundraising events and ideas that will help them hit their goal of €95,000. This will have a huge impact on the services provided to children and families by the three charities. The people of Limerick City and County have the opportunity to make a difference to sick, grieving and vulnerable children and their families. The plan is to build on the support and the initiative to date with exciting new ideas and events.
