“Taking Root”, a showcase of student and graduate artwork from Limerick School of Arts & Design Exhibition Society will be displayed at The Urban Co-Op & Wellness Hub as part of an ongoing collaborative project and runs from March 13 to Sunday, April 9.

As part of an ongoing collaborative project with The Urban Co-op, “Taking Root” features artwork that considers themes of community, sustainability, nature, and wellness. The dual purpose of this exhibition is to bring the work of emerging artists to new audiences in Limerick and to see how incorporating art into everyday spaces can enhance mental well-being and mindfulness.

Eighteen artists are on display throughout The Urban Co-op, working in a variety of mediums. Painting, photography, film, sculpture, print, textiles, ceramics, and more are showcased in the main shopping area, the café, the Plunkett room, and the Kelly room. The included artworks respond to a variety of themes in keeping with the ethos of The Urban Co-op. They explore creating a sustainable artistic practice, the process of decay in nature, using art as a form of mediation, the beauty of the natural world around us, and Irish history. Participating artists include students and graduates of Limerick School of Art & Design, from undergraduate and postgraduate courses in fine art and design.
