This year has been filled with change; our whole lives have changed because of the pandemic that is sweeping the nation. The way we spend time with people has changed, the way we shop has changed and the way we fundraise has had to change. Charities have suffered greatly because of these changes and non-profits like Milford Hospice are struggling daily due to losses of funds.

Milford Hospice’s annual 10km Run/walk has become a popular fun activity with participants growing on an annual basis. However, fundraisers are difficult things to arrange now due to the pandemic. A lot of things have to be done virtually, so for January 2021, Milford Hospice is adapting their annual 10km walk for the changing times. The annual walk/run will be a virtual 10km this year due to the restrictions, it is open to runners and walkers of all levels and abilities with all the proceeds going directly to Milford Hospice.

Milford Care Centre is a voluntary, non-profit organisation and registered charity. They aim to provide the highest quality of care to patients or residents, family, and friends, both in the areas of palliative care and services to the older person.

Many families in Limerick have had some connection with Milford Hospice, be it directly or indirectly. They are a massive support to the community of Limerick, there is not a family in Limerick that hasn’t been supported by Milford Hospice.

The Milford Hospice Virtual annual 10km Run/Walk takes place on January 30 and 31, 2021. Early bird registration is €15 and available until midnight January 17, registering after that costs €20. The entry fee includes a custom running top which was kindly sponsored by Dell Technologies.

Speaking on the event, Milford Care Centre said, “Without your continued support and contributions our hospice services would struggle to deliver the care, comfort and dignity patients and families require and deserve. We appeal to everyone to participate in our virtual 10km event. Everyone is welcome to participate so invite your friends, family, neighbors, and anyone else that knows you.”
