Additional seating has been provided by the Urban Mobile Forest while the installation of two table-tennis tables sparked many friendly contests in the summer months.

As the summer holiday’s draw to a close a colourful ground mural is also taking shape on the site.

Following the delivery of the abstract art mural to the north and west elevations of University of Limerick’s City Campus, Limerick City & County Council are adding a 3D splash of colour, extending the mural onto the ground surface.

The mural delivered by Limerick City Build provides for a perfect selfie opportunity or a group photo with friends.

The Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Cllr Gerald Mitchell said:  “Honan’s Quay is a unique location in Limerick City with views of Sarsfield Lock, Shannon Boat Club, Shannon Weir, Curragower Falls, King John’s Castle and Saint Mary’s Cathedral. It has been great to see this recreational space come to life during the summer months. The new 3D effect mural will add another dimension to this colourful location and will leave a lasting impression on visitors as they enjoy a different kind of energy here in Limerick.”

This Saturday’s FREE family fun day is the final event in the four-part series “Summer at Honan’s Quay.”

Honan’s Quay is set to re-open to vehicular traffic at 6pm on Friday 01 September.
