Polish Arts Festival Stories is calling on writers to tell the story of the Polish-Irish connection and experience.

Polish Arts Festival Stories is a commission project led by the Polish Arts Festival (PAF) in Limerick which will offer a €500 commission for one story in English and one story in Polish.

The group is looking to commission two contemporary, playful and exciting stories for children that are written in Polish, and written in English with a focus on Polish – Irish connection and experience.

PAF stories is looking for Polish-speaking writers, and/or English-speaking writers, who are residents of Ireland, aged over 16, and have a strong connection or experience of Poland and Polish culture, of any experience level who have stories for young audiences they are bursting to tell.

Audio stories for young audiences aged 5-12 will be commissioned through the project. The criteria is open to form, theme, and style, but a story must have a clear emphasis on the audio format and spoken word, such as action through speech and character, and sound effects are some of the main conditions.

The final product should be minimum 10 minutes and maximum 15 minutes long and can be entirely in Polish or English or bilingual in Polish and English, and must be new work.

The selected writers will each receive a €500 commission to write their piece.  PAF Stories will offer dramaturgical support, create and record the final piece with a director and up to two actors, and add sound design and composition.  The group will retain the rights to share the recordings online as part of our Polish Arts Festival, but the writers retain all other rights to their story.

Submit your expression of interest via email  to [email protected] by March 20th
on one PDF page.  PAF Stories is asking proposals to address the following questions:
