Every year Prestige Limerick teams up with a Limerick charity at Christmas time to help support them during one of the busiest times of the year. This year they have decided to team up with the Mid West Simon Community to help with this year’s Christmas food appeal.

Prestige Car Wash and Valeting is an Irish owned business and one of the most popular car care service providers in Limerick and Munster with two locations in Limerick in Castletroy Shopping Centre and on the Dock Road.

In previous years Prestige has worked with other charities over Christmas periods, but it is no doubt in the current climate as to why Prestige has decided to work with Mid-West Simon Community after the influx of people who need their help this year since the beginning of Covid.

Prestige are working this year with the Midwest Simon Community to collect all non-perishable food items for this year’s Christmas food appeal. The last Midwest Simon Community foodbank before Christmas will be available on Friday, December 18. You can attend there from 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm. If you are elderly or vulnerable you can inform a member of staff and they will allow you to go to the front of the line so that you are not putting yourself at risk.

Prestige Limerick is appealing to everyone in Limerick this year to help them with this worthy cause. They are open to all donations of any spare non-perishables or little Christmas treats for their Prestige Christmas Food Appeal so that everyone can enjoy Christmas this year after the dreadful year we have all experienced.

You can drop your food donations into Prestige on the Dock Road and Castletroy Centre up until December 11.

The team at Prestige said, “Every year we like to choose a charity to support around Christmas time. This year we decided we wanted to keep it local so choosing to work with the  Midwest Simon Community for their Christmas Food Appeal and after speaking with Jenny Walsh, Operations Manager of the Midwest Simon Foodbank, we knew it was the perfect choice.

We will be collecting donations for our Prestige Christmas Food Appeal from Monday, November 23 up until Friday, December 11. You can drop your donations into us at either of our Car Washes at Castletroy Shopping Centre or on Bunlicky, Dock Road.

This year has been tough on everyone, with many people losing their jobs over the Covid-19 Pandemic and knowing any donations we collected would go to local families, to help make sure they have a wonderful Christmas!”

Midwest Simon Community has been established since October 2006. The service covers the counties of Clare, Limerick, and North Tipperary. They aim to support people through their journey out of homelessness by providing appropriate accommodation and care services, tailored to their individual needs.

Midwest Simon opened their foodbank in 2014 and has seen the demand for food growing since the beginning of Covid-19 in March with around 9,000 people from across Limerick, Clare, and North Tipperary availing of the facility so far this year.

Midwest Simon Community provides a monthly foodbank service to the people struggling financially in Limerick. This operation provides people with a more dignified way to receive help getting food for their families and themselves. The foodbank they provide can only offer so much help on their own so help from businesses like Prestige Limerick is welcomed and needed.
