SMRC Urban Run 2019 all set for October 6

SMRC Urban Run 2019: this event is growing stronger year by year and runners gave some excellent and very positive feedback.

SMRC Urban Run 2019 all set for October 6

The St Michael’s Rowing Club Urban Run will return for 2019, taking place on October 6th, sponsored by Sherry Fitzgerald, Limerick.

Now in its 7th year, the SMRC Urban Run 2019 is a fantastic community event which raises vital funds for the Rowing Club and their charity partners – Limerick Suicide Watch. Funds raised through the SMRC Urban Run 2019 are invested in St Michael’s Rowing Club Junior Rowing Programme and the event’s Charity Partners – Limerick Suicide Watch, whose voluntary work is regrettably needed more and more these days.

The St Michael’s Rowing Club Urban Run will return for 2019, taking place on October 6th.

The event is also one of the main participation-centred activities for Limerick Mental Health Week. This year they are delighted to also partner up with Limerick Sanctuary Running Group to offer free racing places to runners who are in direct provision. It’s a great additional community link to the event. The 10km road-race and 5km family fun-run has previously attracted a combined five hundred runners of all ages to compete on a flat course which is ideal for PBs with it’s a scenic route in the city and along the riverside. The races are AAI licensed events, well marshalled and offer chip timing for all competitors.

Entry for the event is €20 for the 10km race and €15 for the 5km run. There are reduced rates for u13s and for family groups in the 5k.

Starting on O’Callaghan Strand, the 10K route will take in the ever-popular Neil Cusack Olympic Trail along the banks of the Shannon, while the 5km will follow the North Circular Road Loop.

“Both routes are fast, flat and very scenic and are ideal for those looking for personal best times,” they advise.

“Being fit is not a destination; it is a way of life, and through this event, our vision is to inspire runners, joggers and walkers to come to the starting line every October and encourage progressive steps in a healthy direction.
