Swipe Festival of Digital Youth Arts are excited to partner with Limerick School of Art and Design, LIT, on this 2 day festival which will culminate in an Awards Ceremony at 6pm on Thursday 16th of Oct at Georges Quay.

They are welcoming well known Limerick personalities Leanne Moore and former Ireland & Munster Rugby star Marcus Horan to present this ceremony and hope to have a great time celebrating the achievements of all the nominees and overall winners.

All submissions from our online competition have now been judged by professionals working in the competition categories of animation, visual communication, film and app development/coding with the winners announced on Oct 1st online.

The top 3 nominees for each category have had their work uploaded to an online exhibition area along with some other special pieces as chosen by our judges. There will also be an overall Junior and Senior winner announced at the awards ceremony on Oct 16th.

This exhibition is unique in that it has been open to everyone both online from Oct 1st and physically from Oct 15th in Georges Quay, Limerick School of Art and Design, LIT. Tickets are now available for a guided tour around the Swipe exhibition on Wednesday evening next week. Tickets are limited so register for your free tickets at www.eventbrite.ie and get a guided tour of our entries.

Funded by City of Culture, LIT and developed & curated by Learning Hub Limerick, Swipe Festival offers a really exciting opportunity for Limerick to showcase its youngest digital natives and all their talent and potential!

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
