Limerick Central Rotary Club will stage the Don Reddan Annual Charity Golf Classic on Friday, 10th May 2024

Limerick Central Rotary Club will stage the Don Reddan Annual Charity Golf Classic on Friday, 10th May 2024 in Ballyneety Golf Club in aid of Irish Cancer Society.

Tom Flavin, President of Limerick Central Rotary Club, commented, “We are delighted to host our annual golf classic, which honours one of our founding members Don Reddan and raises vital funds to support charities in Limerick and nationally. This year our nominated charity is Irish Cancer Society – we know that cancer affects so many people in our community and this is a vital cause we are proud to support”.

Ballyneety Golf Club will host this year’s golf classic and this course will present a real challenge for all golfers. Players will enjoy a meal and refreshments with lots of prizes for the winners on the day. Ballyneety Golf Club Captain and Limerick Central Rotary Club member Patrick Fogarty, says, “We look forward to welcoming teams to Ballyneety for the 2024 Don Reddan Annual Charity Golf Classic and are very pleased to support this important cause”.

Tom Flavin described Don Reddan, a founding member of the club, as someone who “throughout his professional and personal life gave his unqualified support to many charitable organisations until his passing in April 2022”.

Tom said, “Don was hugely popular and well known here in Limerick, as Captain and later President of Old Crescent Rugby Club, and as an interprovincial player with Munster. We are delighted to host the second Don Reddan Annual Charity Golf Classic to honour his memory and his legacy”.

Diarmuid Reddan, Don’s son, said: “We’re delighted that Dad’s memory lives on in the Annual Charity Golf Classic. Like so many people in Limerick, he supported many great causes during his life, and it would mean so much to him that this work is being continued in his name. We’re grateful to everyone who took part in last year’s Classic and we’ve no doubt this year will be another great event.”

Rosemary Simmons, Director of Fundraising & Marketing, Irish Cancer Society, says; “We are delighted to be chosen as the beneficiary of this year’s Don Reddan Golf Classic. Every year in Ireland around 45,000 people hear the words ‘you have cancer’.

“Thanks to events like these, the Irish Cancer Society remains the largest voluntary funder of cancer research in Ireland, while providing vital free support and services like Night Nursing, transport to cancer treatment, and cancer information and advice to everyone affected by cancer in Ireland. We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone involved in this year’s event for your incredible support”.

Teams can register for a four-ball scramble at €250 per team by contacting [email protected]. Limerick Central Rotary Club are also seeking corporate sponsorship of tee-boxes at €100 each.
