PHOTOS 2024 SMI Fashion Show a celebration of style, sustainability, and glamour

Attendees were dazzled and entertained with an evening of glamour at the 2024 SMI Fashion Show in Newcastle West
Hosted by Scoil Mhuire agus Íde, the event showcased the creativity and individuality of students as they took to the catwalk highlighting the importance of sustainable fashion all while promoting local businesses.
Pink was the colour this year as the Barbie-inspired fashion extravaganza kicked off hosted by I Love Limerick’s Richard Lynch, who has been hosting the show for 13 years.
Attendees were treated to a showcase of outfits hot in fashion at the moment which reflect on a conscious effort to promote eco-friendly practices.

Again this year SMI was delighted that Newcastle West Tidy Towns are involved with the Fashion Show.
A spokesperson for the event said, “The TY students are in collaboration with the Tidy Towns Committee, they are involved in a creative project where preloved formal wear is upstyled and reworn.
“Sustainability is such a buzz topic in today’s world and we know the audience will be blown away by the formal wear that was purchased in the local charity shops. These outfits would certainly turn heads at upcoming Debs balls. Thanks very much to Vicki Nash and the Tidy Towns for their generous sponsorship of this section of our upcoming show.
“We also want to give a special mention to the following charity shops Star Rescue, St.Vincents and the NCBI.”
The event also served as a platform to champion local businesses, with garments showcased from establishments such as Ela Maria, Gatsby, G Boutique, Scanlans Menswear, Kimono, Bella Sola, and participants from the Junk Kouture Contest.
Richard from ilovelimerick.ie brought his signature charm as the Master of Ceremonies, ensuring a night filled with entertainment and excitement for all in attendance. With tickets priced at €10, the SMI Fashion Show drew a large crowd, reinforcing its status as a must-attend event on the local calendar.
As the curtains closed on another successful showcase of style and sustainability, the organizers expressed their gratitude to all who contributed to making the event a resounding success. With a commitment to promoting eco-conscious fashion and supporting local businesses, the 2024 SMI Fashion Show left a lasting impression on attendees and set a high bar for future editions.
