Limerick City Tidy Towns’ first bi-monthly award for January-February 2024 has gone to the Adapt Charity Shop at 18/19 Parnell Street.

Limerick City Tidy Towns’ first bi-monthly award for January-February 2024 has gone to the Adapt Charity Shop at 18/19 Parnell Street.

Maura says “The Adapt Shop on Parnell Street was suggested to us as a bi-monthly winner by one of our regular volunteers who is impressed at the effort the staff put into keeping their signage and shop front clean and fresh and by the fact that they also endeavour to keep the nearby laneway clean which is greatly appreciated by us, particularly given its proximity to Colbert Railway Station where first impressions of the city are so important. Of course, sustainability is also a huge part of the Tidy Towns ethos, so the fact that this is a charity shop that sells second hand goods is also a big part of our aim to promote re-using goods and the circular economy.”

The ADAPT Charity Shop on Parnell Street first opened in August 2022 and specialises in furniture, bric-a-brac and second-hand clothing.  All proceeds from the shop go directly to providing vital services to women and children who are experiencing domestic abuse/coercive and who wish to avail of the services that ADAPT provides (24 hour confidential helpline – 1800 200 504).    The shop welcomes donations and has a large variety of high-quality goods available, so it’s well worth dropping in for a browse.

The Adapt Shop is Limerick City Tidy Town’s first winner for 2024 and will be in with a chance to be their Overall Winner for 2024 at next year’s annual event.  The online poll for the Overall Winner for 2023 has recently closed and the winner will be announced at a special event to be held in the coming weeks, so watch this space!

If you wish to nominate a business in the city for an award or indeed to volunteer with Limerick City Tidy Towns, they meet every Sunday morning at 11 am at the corner of Thomas Street and O’Connell Street, and on Wednesday evenings at 6 pm outside the White House during summer months.

You can contact the ADAPT shop on 061 319086, email [email protected] or visit their website
