Limerick City and County Council has announced the appointment of Ashlene Reyburn as its Night Time Economy Advisor
Ashlene Reyburn said she will “aim to bring innovative solutions that enhance the overall experience for residents and visitors of all ages and interests” as Night Time Economy Advisor

Ashlene Reyburn will bring a fresh perspective to the role having recently taken up residence in Limerick city after living most of her life in Australia.

Born in Ireland, Ashlene returned with a wealth of experience having worked in various Australian government departments. Her professional background incorporates extensive experience in stakeholder engagement at multiple levels, project management and policy coordination.

The Night Time Economy (NTE) Advisor role is a two-year pilot initiative in Limerick City, developed and funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport, and Media.  Inspired by similar appointments in European cities, this initiative stems from a recommendation by the national NTE Taskforce.

Ashlene is enthusiastic about the task ahead, saying, “I am looking forward to the opportunity to contribute to the vibrant night-time culture in Limerick City. With a focus on inclusivity and collaboration, I aim to bring innovative solutions that enhance the overall experience for residents and visitors of all ages and interests.”

Limerick City and County Council’s proactive approach to enhancing the night-time experience involves collaborating with key stakeholders. The NTE Advisor will establish a committee with inclusive representation to prepare a cohesive action plan informed by data-driven approaches, surveys, and consultations.

The role encompasses various interventions such as venue adaptation, public realm safety enhancements, cultural event management, and incentives for late-night retail.

The NTE Advisor will also report back to the national Implementation Group, contributing insights and best practices for consideration beyond the pilot period.

Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Cllr Gerald Mitchell is welcoming the appointment, he said, “Embracing the night time economy is a pivotal step towards injecting further vitality in to Limerick city centre. I want to congratulate Ashlene on her new role and wish her well as she works with stakeholders to devise a comprehensive action plan fuelled by local knowledge and input. By working together we can have a thriving after hours offering and set an example for others to follow.”

The Night Time Economy Advisror added, “I am looking forward to making a dynamic and positive impact on the night-time economy, fostering a city where diverse activities thrive, and the community flourishes after sunset.”

Brendan Troy, Head of Trade and Investment at Limerick City and County Council said, ‘We are delighted to welcome Ashlene into the team. I am looking forward to working closely with her on enhancing the Limerick City economy between 6PM to 6AM as part of a wider approach to investing in and supporting a diverse and vibrant city centre for culture, business, retail, residents and revellers.’
