The Board of the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation held their annual Butterfly Ball 2023 at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Spa Ennis Road, Limerick on Friday, September 29.

The annual Foundation’s Butterfly Ball is considered one of the high-profile events on the Mid-West area social calendar, with all money raised going to benefit the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation.

The aim of the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation is to complement and cooperate with the HSE to assist with the regional Cancer Services in areas such as purchasing equipment, funding research, and continuing education that is necessary to support the designated National Cancer Centre at UHL.

The presence of The Mid-Western Cancer Centre has enabled the majority of patients to be treated locally, thus remaining at home, with support from family, friends, and health professionals within the region.

The number of people who are being diagnosed with cancer in this region is increasing and will continue to increase. In the current environment, the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation needs your support more than ever to help them ensure the continuing management of patients with cancer.

Cllr Gerard Mitchell, Mayor of Limerick City and County, Limerick fashion queen Celia Holman Lee Graham Roundtree, Head Coach Munster Rugby and Dr Denis O’Keeffe, Clinical Director, Cancer Services UHL were among those who attended.

The night featured a Prosecco reception with the Michael John Ryan String Quartet and a four course meal. Master of Ceremonies Nigel Mercier and James Sexton of HIYA Events entertained the captive audience who danced the night to the band Escapade. An auction, raffle and spot prizes on the night raised more funds and the proceeds will be used to enhance the Mid-Western Cancer Centre, Limerick.
