Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board’s College of Further Education and Training delivers programmes to over 34,000 learners each year across 28 College of FET Campuses throughout the Limerick and Clare region.

Two of these campuses, the College of FET, Mulgrave Street Campus and the nearby Kilmallock Road Campus, recently held an Open Day for prospective learners who got to meet with staff and learners, explore supports and campus facilities, and see the range of courses on offer at each campus.

The open day was perfect for learners considering what pathway to take in the continuation of their education, or indeed contemplating a return to education as the campuses offer small class sizes and wraparound supports.

Prospective learners also had the opportunity to speak with staff and learn more about the huge range of flexible training and learning opportunities that each individual campus possesses.

The unified prospectus that incorporates each of these sister campuses is filled with options – not only for school leavers, but for adults alike – that provide clear pathways to further education and career-based progression.

Both campuses offer no course fees, a wide range of courses for school leavers and mature learners, bridging courses to upskill for the workforce, pathways to apprenticeship, higher education progression opportunities, full and part-time courses, flexible training and state-of-the-art facilities.

Learners considering attending a number of specific programmes at College of FET, Kilmallock Road Campus pay no fees, receive full accreditation, keep their social protection payment and are entitled to childcare support. A Youthreach Programme is also available at the campus, which offers a range of supports for 15 to 20-year-olds.

Programmes are co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union.

Lucy Connolly, a Beauty Therapy learner at College of FET Mulgrave Street Campus said, “What I love about the beauty therapy course is how much access to facilities we have, as we have a beauty therapy room in the college. I loved meeting all the girls as we’re very close and get on really well as we’re all interested in the same thing.”

Learner at the Kilmallock Road Campus, Cormac Warren, studying Applied Science said, “I think all of the staff are great, they’re excellent teachers, and they never hesitate to clarify any points that you need. I think that my classmates are all very friendly, they’re very helpful, and peer-to-peer learning is exceptional. There are so many pathways that you can take and there’s just something for anybody.”
