This year, the International Rugby Experience (IRE) will be swapping rugby balls for Christmas baubles with the exciting news: Santa Claus is coming to town!

Families can expect a warm welcome to a twinkling world of festive fun. Their sense of anticipation will grow with each step as they descend to Santa’s busy workshop to meet his special helpers, the IRE Elves, celebrated throughout the city for their exceptional gift-giving expertise!

Santa Claus, the star of the show, with his beaming smile and snowy white beard, will meet young and old alike, spreading seasonal cheer for the perfect start to the best Christmas ever.

The Nation’s Favourite building was an easy choice for Santa to set up his secret workshop in. With the 360 views of Limerick from the top floor he can see exactly where he needs to deliver presents to on Christmas Eve, plus the secret space downstairs has plenty of room for boys and girls to help the IRE elves create top class toys and treats.

International Rugby Experience CEO, Barry Hannon, said: “We are hoping to create a new family Santa tradition in the city centre, just like in years gone by. We would like to think we will be the start or finish to a really festive afternoon or evening for families as they stroll around town, doing their shopping, having a bite to eat or just enjoying the beautiful lights and decorations that will be going up.”

The IRE, which launched to much fanfare in May of this year, is a fully immersive, hands on, multi-sensory experience designed to engage and inspire families and individuals alike. With Rugby World Cup fever engulfing fans, there is no better time to journey through what it takes to become a Legend of the Game. With six stages rooted in World Rugby’s values of Passion, Discipline, Integrity, Solidarity and Respect, the ardent rugby fan will find plenty of entertainment with families and more casual fans also enjoying a world of interactive fun in the Home of Legends.

The International Rugby Experience tours, gift store and cafe are open seven days a week from 9.30am.
