The Irish Red Cross in Limerick was founded in 1940. They currently have more than 600 members volunteering in Limerick City and County.

The First Aid Response Course that is being offered is PHECC (Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council) accredited. You will learn vital skills while attending the course such as treating wounds and fractures, life-saving skills, and how to manage a person’s medical conditions when waiting for an ambulance.

This course for new volunteers will be delivered over the course of ten weeks in-person.

The Red Cross are also appealing to the youth in Limerick to get involved in First Aid training. A separate open night will be held the following day, Friday, September 23 in the Ashbourne Business Park from 7:30pm until 8:30pm.

This open night will offer a Practical First Aid Course to young people aged 17 to 18. The cost of the course is €65 and once completed, there will be multiple options open to work within the Irish Red Cross, the Irish Red Cross Youth, and the International Red Cross.

Anyone taking the course will qualify as a Cadet upon completion and can then build their way up through The Irish Red Cross organisation.

Irish Red Cross Limerick commented on their site, “The final result we strive to achieve is a confident and certified young First Aider with the ability to help those in need during an emergency without risking injury to him or herself.”
