Limerick Artist and photographer Ken Coleman Morbid Angel artwork has been released for the death metal band. Ken received the honour of designing work for the band after Steve Tucker, a guitarist for the band informed him of the opportunity. Ken then spent the next two months designing various pieces including artwork, social media templates and merchandise layouts.

Ken spoke to ilovelimerick about the honour of being asked to design the artwork. “I was really excited to be a part of this project. Morbid Angel is a band from my teenage years who always had iconic artwork so to be chosen to design artwork for them was incredible”.

Ken has been creating digital art, photography and design in Limerick for over ten years. Ken Coleman’s work uses photography and mixes that with 3D digital art to create surreal fantasy imagery. He has worked on a variety of different projects throughout the years from album covers to editorial illustrations. Ken also created images for the Cranberries to help promote their European Tour last year.

Ken Coleman Slartibartfast chosen as Curators Choice at the Hunt

Ken Coleman Slartibartfast was chosen as Curators Choice at the Hunt for June of last year.

Last year, Limerick photographer and digital artist Ken Coleman unveiled his new work Slartibartfast which was chosen as Curator’s Choice for the month of June at the Hunt Museum.

Slartibarfast  is a combination of photography and digital painting with some 3D elements incorporated. Elements of Mikael Fernström’s Swedish background have been included through the trees representing Yggdrasil from Norse mythology, images of technology can be seen which represent his electronic background. This fascinating portrait also includes elements from the Hunt Museums own collection to tie the museum into the portrait.

Ken has previously designed artwork for British singer Paloma Faith. Ken won the Community Choice Award in a competition run by the website Talenthouse. The British songstress shared Coleman’s design on her social media accounts, including her Twitter account, which boasts more than 500,000 followers. Gustavo Santos won the selected artist award for his ‘Vision of Paloma Faith’.

“It was my first time entering a competition on this site and I have to say it is very inspiring and great for artists to have something to work towards,” he explained. “I think it’s a fantastic opportunity for designers of all ages to find briefs to build their portfolios with. I would love the chance to work with creative artists like this in the future,” he said, “the likes of Lady Gaga, for example, I think would be a great one.”
