With the help of people across Limerick, local charity Let’s Fund It made a large donation of goodie bags and children’s books to the young patients at the University Hospital Limerick’s Children’s Ark.

The goodie bags were put together by the team of volunteers behind the volunteer-run charity. People from across Limerick supported the initiative by donating a goodie bag or book through the charity’s new website, letsfundit.ie. Donors donated sweet goodie bags, toy goodie bags and Christmas children’s book, The Adventure of Pip the Elf.

Written by Limerick children’s author, Aoife Carroll, this beautiful Christmas book tells the story of an elf named Pip who tumbles from Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve and embarks on a magical journey. Landing in the children’s ward of a hospital, Pip befriends a group of young patients who help him reunite with Santa. Full of hope, friendship, and festive cheer, this enchanting tale is perfect for children and families during the holiday season.

UHL’s staff will distribute the donated goodie bags and books within the Children’s Ark paediatric unit throughout Christmas. Let’s Fund It hopes that children and their families who find themselves spending the holidays in a hospital setting are supported and not forgotten.

“We understand that being in a hospital during the holidays can be tough, especially for children and their families. Our goal is to provide a small escape, and a reminder that people care,” said David Walsh, Secretary of Let’s Fund It.

This initiative is part of Let’s Fund It’s ongoing mission to contribute to the well-being of communities, and to continue the goal of supporting registered Irish charities & their service users. Additionally, the charity aims to continue its philosophy of transparent donations and showing its donors the real difference, they have made.

Let’s Fund It are also supporting Limerick charities ADAPT, Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention and Bat Rehabilitation on their website this Christmas.
