Limerick 2020 Thomond Park – Thomond Park Stadium will host a Citizen Brainstorming Session this coming Tuesday (21 July) from 5pm to 7pm as part of efforts to secure 2020 European Capital of Culture designation for Limerick.

Tuesday’s session is the latest in a series of events, conversations and activities taking place across the region, which the Limerick 2020 team says will inform the set of values and priorities that will underpin Limerick’s bid.

“The European Capital of Culture participation programme provides an ideal opportunity for people of all ages and from all backgrounds to have their say on Limerick 2020,” commented Sheila Deegan, Arts and Culture Officer, Limerick 2020 Bid Team.

“Limerick 2020 needs everybody’s ideas, passion and enthusiasm to help secure the 2020 European Capital of Culture designation for Limerick. The Limerick 2020 Thomond Park Citizen Brainstorming Session is a family-friendly with facilitators on-hand to keep the ideas flowing, while artists will be working with the children to help them share their ideas too. Tea and coffee will be provided and it is free and open to all..” she added.

A series of Kitchen Table Conversations featuring informal discussions to help feed into Limerick’s bid across the region have taken place during the past fortnight in Askeaton, Rathkeale, Adare, University of Limerick, Limerick City and Ennis.

Anyone wishing to host a Kitchen Table Conversation in their community should send an email to [email protected] after which they will be issued conversation tips, feedback forms for capturing the ideas, a checklist and poster template.

Limerick 2020’s bid for European Capital of Culture is about reimagining Limerick. Limerick is connecting with its people and its rich culture to imagine its future and is emerging from a quiet minute into a new dawn. Join us on this wonderful journey.
