The adorable Limerick Animal Welfare 2022 calendar is now available to purchase from their charity shops on Parnell Street and William Street and their sanctuary in Kilfinane. The calendars cost €10 and can be posted out for an extra €4.

The calendar includes cute pictures of both past and present animals under the care of the sanctuary as well as adorable captions with information about the animals.

“The proceeds from the calendars will go towards the care of the animals here at the sanctuary and towards our vert bills,” Tara McCarthy from Limerick Animal Welfare (LAW) said.

LAW rescue and rehome dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, and many other animals who find themselves with no home. The sanctuary has a no-kill policy, and all of their animals remain in their care until they can find them their forever home.

The charity relies heavily on public funding to stay running as their monthly costs can be over €60,000.

The vast majority of their funding comes from the generosity of the people of Limerick and organistaions. Funds are raised through on-street funding and through income gained from their charity shops which are staffed by volunteers. They also receive a yearly grant from the Department of Agriculture.

“The pandemic has been extremely hard for us here at LAW. Like many other businesses, we rely on our clients for our income, both at the sanctuary and our charity shops. As businesses were closed for periods of time we had to rely on donations to keep us going throughout,”  Tara said.

LAW was founded in 1983 and has had thousands of previously unwanted animals pass through their doors throughout the years.

The sanctuary spays/neuters their animals and provides them with a safe haven until they can find a safe, responsible and permanent home for them.

At any one time, LAW cares for up to 200 animals, including up to 60 cats, 70 dogs, horses, goats, chickens, and many more.

Funds raised through the calendar will help support their work in caring for these animals.
