Limerick Chamber is the leading business organisation in Midwest region supporting and representing the interests of over 450 businesses and they celebrated the 200th anniversary of the signing of its Charter at a special gathering of its members on Friday, June 5.
The informal BBQ for the Limerick Chamber 200th Anniversary took place in the Chamber’s building on 96 O’Connell Street which has been the home of the Chamber since 1833. Guests were entertained by singer Liam O’Brien and had the opportunity to tour the building which retains much of its original Georgian layout and architectural detailing.
The broad membership base of the Chamber was well represented on the evening with over 80 members from some of the largest multinationals in the region, SME’s and the retail and hospitality sectors in attendance. Special guests included the Mayor of Limerick City and County, Councillor Kevin Sheahan and Limerick City and County Manager, Conn Murray.
Speaking at the event, Dr James Ring, Limerick Chamber CEO, said, “Celebrating a 200th anniversary is a mean feat for any business. So during our bicentenary year we have planned a series of events and activities to commemorate our history and look back on 200 years, but also to look forward and demonstrate how Limerick Chamber is supporting business and building a stronger future for the region.”
“This event is about recognising and thanking our members on the occasion of our 200th anniversary and I am delighted so many of our members joined us to celebrate the occasion in our historic building,” he continued.
