Limerick-based functional food brand Juspy has scooped three separate awards including a prestigious star from the Great Taste Awards in the UK and the ‘Best European Lifestyle Food Products Company’ award from LuxLife Magazine for its latest product, a chocolate collagen protein powder for people on the go. The highly anticipated Great Taste Awards are run annually by the Guild of Fine Food in the UK, where over 350 judges blind taste test over 14,000 entries before awarding their stars.

Of Limerick Food Startup Juspy, the judges said, “This dried powder tastes nutty, not too sweet and has rich chocolate notes. It poured well and was thick with a buttery chocolate taste. Praline paste notes were detected. We enjoyed the chocolateyness and thought it had a pleasing richness. An enjoyable way to get younger looking skin.”

The second award from LuxLife Magazine recognised Juspy’s brand for its innovation and quality of product offerings, as well as business performance, business growth and customer feedback. The British magazine has an online readership of 250,000 and is known for highlighting international luxury brands across multiple categories, including art & entertainment, beauty, lifestyle and travel. The awards are now in their sixth year.

Limerick Food Startup Juspy was founded in 2018 by Leonie Lynch, an entrepreneur and wellness expert. She holds multiple qualifications in fitness, nutrition and marketing and graduated with a PhD in brand from the University of Limerick. An alumni of Going for Growth, FoodWorks Ireland and New Frontiers, Juspy’s first chilled protein based beverage was initially available in airports, forecourts and health food stores. However, despite generating a high volume of loyal fans, it faced serious scaling and supply chain challenges as it competed on shelf with international drinks brands.

The company pivoted to a powder based product with the inclusion of marine collagen in October 2020 to sell directly to consumers via its woo-commerce site and strategic online marketplaces. Since the transition, the brand has gone from strength to strength. Juspy now sells to customers all over the world and is riding the wave of interest and demand for functional food that tastes indulgent but is all natural.

Juspy is available online as a single or subscription based purchase from juspy.com, and on Amazon in multiple markets. The future is bright for Jupsy, with the rollout of new flavours and a product just for kids planned in early 2022.
