This fun-filled and heartwarming event has been on the road since 2018, raising money for local charities each year. The cycle’s charity of choice this Christmas is Milford Care Centre. Santa suits and festive lights for the bike will be distributed to those taking part on the night.

There will be prizes on the night for those that register early, for the best Santa costumes, and also the most lit-up bike. Anyone interested in joining the Limerick Santa Cycle 2022 must be 16 years of age or older.

The cycle is set up by M&M Cycling Club – based in Monaleen and Milford. Organiser Ray O’Dell said, “We are delighted that the Limerick Santa Cycle is back for 2022, so why not come and join in the festive fun while helping a local charity which is very close to all our hearts in the Monaleen-Milford areas – Milford Hospice Care Centre.”

Milford Care Centre offers a wide range of support such as hospice care, nursing home care, and bereavement support. The Centre is a non-profit charity established in 1928 by the Little Company of Mary Sisters. In 2007, Milford Care Centre became the first facility to be officially recognised as a palliative care home and a nursing care home by the Irish Health Services Accreditation Board. The staff are much-loved and appreciated by all who access services at the Centre.

Milford Hospice affirm life while integrating the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of care particular to individual needs. They encourage advanced planning rather than crisis intervention.

Many families in Limerick have had some connection with Milford Hospice, be it directly or indirectly. They are a massive support to the community of Limerick, and funds raised from the event will be put into the much-needed services they provide.

Registration for the Limerick Santa Cycle 2022 costs €30. Refreshments and finger food will also be provided on the night at Hurlers Pub. The cycle will be 12km in total and the event is expected to run for 3 hours and 45 minutes.
