An Mhodhscoil – The Model School held the Winter Wonderland Model School Fashion Show 2016 which took place on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 7pm in the Limerick Strand.

Educating the children in the Limerick region since 1855, this is a Co-Ed Non-Denominational Irish medium city centre school catering for the educational needs of 670 pupils.

From humble beginnings, the school has grown from strength to strength and continues to evolve with the proposed development of An Mhodhscoil, including four new classrooms and a new playground area. The Fashion Show is the first initiative to raise much-needed revenue to support the development of this school.

The origins of model schools were in 1831, an educational system was set up in Ireland. One of its main aims was to provide trained teachers to work in the new national schools. The idea was that able pupils would be encouraged to stay at national school as monitors and train under an experienced teacher. Therefore the concept of the ‘model school’ was set up as non-denominational national schools.

Showcasing the very best of boutique apparel, this was a wonderful opportunity to plan your winter wardrobe and discover the trends you need to know for Autumn Winter. In association with The Holman Lee Agency, the show featured ladieswear, childrenswear and menswear on the night with lots of amazing prizes on offer.

Celebrity guest, actress and media personality, Aoibhin Garrihy was in attendance to judge best-dressed lady and most stylish man!

The show was at capacity on the evening with tickets costing €25 per person. It was announced on the evening that the event raised over €20,000 for An Mhodhscoil.
