Monarú Limited has been named as Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 in the Limerick Final of the National Enterprise Awards, at a ceremony in the Engine Collaboration Centre on Cecil Street.

Monarú combines modern digital fabrication methods with traditional craftsmanship to design and produce high quality contemporary furniture products. Michael McLaughlin on behalf of Monarú, was presented with the award by Mayor of Limerick City & County, Councillor Gerald Mitchell.  Other awards went to Precision Utility Mapping for Runner up Entrepreneur of the Year, Electrotek, Winner One to Watch, Viviprint, Runner up One to Watch, Richardsons Foods, Winner Green/Sustainability and Paul Collins Retail, Runner up Green/Sustainability.

The competition is organised by Ireland’s network of Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) to give recognition to the contribution of micro enterprises to the National Economy. The annual results of the Local Enterprise Offices for 2023 have shown that LEO Limerick supported companies which created 238 net new jobs in the 12 months to December 2023. This is the tenth year of year-on-year growth in jobs in Limerick with LEO Limerick supporting a total of 313 small businesses employing over 1,800 people.

Speaking at the Awards event in Limerick, Mike O’Byrne of LEO Limerick said: “Through our extensive programme of supports, LEO Limerick is the first stop shop for small to medium enterprises in Limerick City & County. These awards provide a platform to local entrepreneurs to showcase their entrepreneurial achievements to a wider audience.  The awards presented here today, give recognition to the individuals and businesses whose entrepreneurial vision and drive, create valuable employment in Limerick and are a vital component in the economic and social fabric of Limerick City and County. “

Monarú Limited will now go forward as Limerick’s representative in the National Enterprise Awards on 23 May 2024 at the Mansion House, Dublin.
