Omnicon: Limerick’s leading geek culture convention is back for its first two-day event 

Limerick’s annual Omnicon event will be taking place on August 24 and 25 this month at the Great National Court Hotel. This will be the first year that the event will be spread across two days and is promising to be packed with fun and activities for all ages.

Peruse our trader hall and artist alley for some unique wares,  join in some of the gaming fun
with our free-to-play board game section or video games area, and if you are feeling competitive,
why not compete in one of our various tournaments that will take place over the weekend.

Omnicon 2019

This year’s Omnicon will see characters from various tv shows and movies, celebrating cosplay culture.

Games, Cosplay, Sci-fi, Comics, Manga, Workshops and Panels, Trade Hall and Artist alley; Omnicon will have them all! At this year’s event, there will be a multitude of great workshops, panels and competitions taking place.

The event has been taking place in Limerick for the past two years, with last year’s event having Spraoi VR setting up their virtual reality rig, Lim Brick City running a small Lego area for those who love to build, various panels taking place throughout the day along with SFX make-up and effects demos and an infinity stone treasure hunt. This year promises to be just as successful.

Our main stage will host many panels such as a talk on animation and the return of the infamous Mock the Geek, or even partake in our debut of Cosplay Blind Date. Come and meet your favourite characters or bring yours alive by coming in cosplay.

Various cosplay panels and live demonstrations will take place over the weekend and if you are looking to win some prizes; why not take part in our cosplay masquerade and show off your costume?

Come along and watch some of Ireland’s fiercest cosplayers compete in our first professional category. For evening activities you can come along and watch Ansonix who is an Irish electronic video game music artist and join us for our pub quiz taking place in Off The Bone Gastropub on August 24.
