This June 23-30, Limerick is set to host the 17th River of Dreams Quilt Exhibition, a vibrant, volunteer-driven celebration of quilting artistry and a powerful initiative

From Friday, June 23 to Friday, June 30, the River of Dreams Quilt Exhibition will be shown at TUS Limerick School of Art and Design and will display more than 50 quilts this year.

The exhibition is organised by a small, passionate group of quilting enthusiasts who want to give local and National quilters the opportunity to exhibit their work, with a strong commitment to inclusivity, the exhibition welcomes quilts of all sizes, from novices to seasoned experts.

Unlike traditional competitions, the quilts on display will not be judged, instead, visitors will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite quilt, and the talented quilter who receives the most votes will be rewarded with a generous bundle of fat quarters generously donated by Moda.

The exhibition not only celebrates the artistry and craftsmanship of quilting but also seeks to educate and inspire offering free quilting and patchwork skills demonstrations, led by local quilt teachers on Monday, June 26th, to Friday, June 30th.

These demonstrations, beginning at 1 pm each day, offer attendees the chance to learn from experienced artisans and discover the intricate techniques behind quilting and patchwork.

For families and younger visitors, the exhibition presents a free Kids Quilt Trail each day.

The success of the River of Dreams Quilt Exhibition would not be possible without the dedicated volunteers from the local quilting community who will be on hand to answer questions about the quilts and help non-quilters understand why the group likes cutting up pieces of fabric and sewing them back together again.

This year during the Exhibition the group is highlighting Breast Awareness, encouraging people to self–examine and report any changes to the appropriate expert.

Quilters associated with the River of Dreams Quilt Exhibition made Bow blocks and sent donations for Breast Awareness, the bow blocks by their shape are to act as a reminder to self-examine.

The Quilt and Donations will be presented to the staff of the Breast Clinic in University Hospital Limerick in appreciation for their constant care and attention to people going through a very worrying time.

The 17th River of Dreams Quilt Exhibition promises to be a captivating display of artistic talent, community spirit, and health awareness. Visitors of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to attend this remarkable event, immerse themselves in the world of quilting, and support the valuable cause of breast health awareness.
