Social Savvy conference comes to the Limetree Theatre



The conference takes place in the Lime Tree Theatre on campus at Mary Immaculate College this Friday April 1st from 9 am – 4.30 pm. The focus of the conference is Social Media for higher education, however many local businesses which aim to further their use in social media and use the media to enhance their success will also be attending. Almost all of what will be covered on the day is applicable to business, marketing and communications.

The main focus points and aims of the conference will be the power of Social Media and the role it has to play in 2016; Inbound marketing with a focus on attracting, converting and closing new customers; Utilising staff as brand advocates. Digital Strategy creation, implementation and delivery and Driving customer engagement.

Speakers on the day include Barney Brown, Head of Online Communications at Cambridge University.  Amy Carroll, Inbound marketing specialist at Hubspot, focusing on higher education. Lisa Molan, Relationship Manager at Linkedin. Ruchika Hassan, Head of Social and Content Marketing at Groupon. Bernie Goldbach, Limerick School of Art & Design. The use of social media in business and marketing such as focusing in on who your target audience is, networking, generating buzz and press for your company and also being able to receive instant feedback from your audience are to name just a few.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
