As the highly anticipated Team Limerick Clean-Up 9 (TLC9) approaches, the Mayor of the City and County of Limerick, Cllr Gerald Mitchell, is issuing a call on schools, residents, businesses, and community groups to register.

On Good Friday, March 29, 2024, Limerick will once again unite for this uplifting event, dedicated to sprucing up our streets, parks, and neighbourhoods.

TLC9 is an opportunity to improve the appearance of our city and county, while instilling a lasting commitment to cleanliness in our daily lives.

Mayor Mitchell underscores the significance of sustained community involvement, stating, “Team Limerick Clean-Up 9 is unique to us here in Limerick and from its inception, it has been widely embraced, garnering community support and nurturing a sense of unity and responsibility toward our environment. TLC is not confined to a single day; it embodies our collective dedication to preserving the beauty and cleanliness of our city and county. It is a grassroots community endeavour helping to foster civic pride and environmental responsibility.”

TLC is sponsored by the JP McManus Benevolent Fund in collaboration with Limerick City and County Council and Mr Binman. It is spearheaded by Paul O’Connell. It is Ireland’s largest one-day clean up event. Last year, over 21,500 volunteers took part in TLC8. This was made up of 568 groups, including 85 schools and 56 businesses.

Mayor Mitchell adds, “TLC’s success hinges on the active involvement of volunteers from all walks of life. Whether you’re a student, parent, business owner, or retiree, your contribution matters. By participating, we showcase our commitment to creating a greener, healthier Limerick for generations. Together, we can tangibly enhance the quality of life in our community.

“Register for Team Limerick Clean-up 9 and let’s make this Good Friday a day to remember, showcasing the true spirit of Limerick – a united community dedicated to cleanliness, sustainability, and enduring civic pride.”
