Waterdogs release their debut EP Midnight Loser following the success of their debut track ‘Stone Driver’ and follow-up single, ‘Victim (by Choice)’

Waterdogs Midnight Loser

After great success with their debut track ‘Stone Driver’, and second single ‘Victim (By Choice)’, Waterdogs are releasing their debut EP Midnight Loser on December 1st.

Midnight Loser features the band’s first two singles, plus ‘Ash’ and ‘Brainfog’ – two grunge-fuelled, riff-heavy masterpieces. The four-piece work fluidly together to build an electric, sucker-punch of a debut EP – a remarkable feat from the young band.

Alongside the release of Midnight Loser, the band played two headline shows at the beginning of December partnering with Wired FM and Pharmacia in Limerick and a second show in Fred Zeppelins in Cork.

Speaking about Waterdogs’ debut EP, guitarist and lyricist Aaron Griffin said: “For our Debut EP we wanted to give a snapshot of the sound we’re going for. It was in this way of thinking we chose the tracks for Midnight Loser. The songs are varied stylistically and that’s with intention. We wanted to produce something that sounded like us, in all the ways that means.”

“Another important thing for us was to use songs we felt people could connect and relate to. That’s really at the heart of what we’re trying to do – to use our music to be open, and vulnerable. To hopefully let people know when they’re going through some hard times that they’re not alone. Music has done that for all of us in the band in our lives, and we want to be able to pay that forward.”

“The EP was recorded and produced in Blackwater Studios by Duncan O’Cleirigh. He’s a phenomenal producer and we honestly can’t thank him enough.”

“We’re proud of Midnight Loser. A lot of hard work went into it and we think it’s turned out great.”

Waterdogs debut single ‘Stone Driver’ has received over 3,000 streams on Spotify alone, received radio play though Limerick’s Live95 and Wired FM, landed itself on Hot Press’ New Irish Songs To Hear This Week playlist, and even scored the group an interview with RTÉ. Their second single, ‘Victim (By Choice)’, a groovy, laid back melody with driving drums and a touch of reggae flair, won over another gaggle of fans, earning them radio play, Hot Press features, and more.
