Castleconnell Boat Club is in need of support from the public, hoping to raise €100,000 to upgrade its rowing equipment.

Drawing on enthusiasts from County Limerick, County Clare, and County Tipperary, the club’s focus is on fostering a passion for rowing among both junior and masters athletes, working to instill valuable life lessons like teamwork, discipline, and a strong work ethic while promoting physical and mental well-being.

The junior and masters rowing programs have a proud history of success, consistently producing talented athletes who have gone on to compete at national and international levels. However, the club’s aging fleet of rowing boats is in dire need of replacement, hindering our ability to provide our young rowers in particular with the equipment they need to excel. To maintain and enhance their training programmes, Castleconnell Boat Club aims to raise €100,000 to purchase new boats.

Writing on a GoFundMe page set up for the club, the group said, “We are seeking €100,000 to purchase new rowing boats for our rowing programme. The funds will also help with maintaining our existing equipment. The boats will enhance the training experience for our current rowers and, ensure the continued growth and success of our rowing programme.”

They explain, “Your generous donation will directly impact the lives of our athletes, providing them with the opportunity to pursue their rowing aspirations. With your support, we can provide our rowers with access to the latest rowing equipment, ensuring they are well-prepared for competitions and can compete equally. Ensuring our current fleet of boats are safely maintained and repaired.”

The club’s appeal for support is aimed at sustaining and improving its programmes for rowers, maintaining its presence as a place to nurture the talent of its athletes, and promoting the sport within the community.

“Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a significant difference in the lives of our rowers. We would also like to hear from you if you would like to donate a boat or equipment,” said the group.
