Limerick-based Alt-Rock outfit Dylan Flynn and The Dead Poets release their new single ‘Shine’ on Wednesday, June 30th. This is the third single from their ‘crazy, how we live like this’ collection. As per usual, the band recorded and produced the track themselves, with their drummer, Gavin Murray, mixing it. The track is set to come out under the Limerick-based collective, BitDepth, of which Flynn is the co-founder.

The song opens with lusciously picked guitar and atmospheric synths, which are swiftly followed by Flynn’s distinctive vocal. As the track progresses, booming toms fill the space before a huge chorus kicks in. The song mixes Kings of Leon-Esque riffs with Flynn’s polished production, resulting in a Stadium-Rock anthem that you will not forget anytime soon.

Flynn expresses, “This track is one that I’ve had for a while. I wrote it when I was going through a tough time mentally, and it helped me see the light at the end of the tunnel. We have been playing it live for some time, so I’m delighted it’s finally out in the world.”

Dylan Flynn first gained recognition for being part of the indie four-piece, ‘Monday Villains’. Flynn later took some time off before venturing back into the solo field in 2017. Upon starting college, Dylan encountered the Dead Poets, and they eventually began gigging together in 2018. The band has created numerous music videos and has also worked with many Limerick-based artists from then onwards.

Dylan Flynn and The Dead Poets are renowned for their unique, innovative way of creating music. Raw expression and the portrayal of emotions in the moment is how they write their greatest songs.

Speaking of his EP ‘Like It Never Happened’ that came out earlier this year, Dylan Flynn said, ‘The name of the EP comes from the late nights we spent making it. When we started the project, we didn’t have any plans for it; the idea of being an EP didn’t come about until further down the line. We began these tracks to have fun and create something that we would want to listen to. It was a very laid back and fun process.”

The lads have been busy the last six months gaining over 18k on Spotify. They have released three singles and their EP “Like It Never Happened” with collaborator and producer, Culla. Flynn also has plenty more to come, with three more singles set to come out from their ‘crazy, how we live like this’ collection. For now, ‘Shine’ comes out June 30th!
