Eli Lilly Senior Vice President, Edgardo Hernandez, said, “Over the past 40 years, we have continued to invest in Ireland in part because of supportive
government policies that value life science innovation.”
Pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly and Company have announced a new €400 million manufacturing facility for Limerick.
The new development in Raheen will create 300 long-term jobs for highly-skilled workers such as engineers, scientists and operations personnel. 500 construction jobs will also become available.
Mayor of Limerick City and County, Daniel Butler, said, “I would like to welcome Lilly to Limerick and thank the company for choosing Limerick.
“This decision shows that the partnership approach that exists here between the local authority, IDA Ireland, the various other state agencies and the third level sector is working.”
Lilly has operated a manufacturing campus in Kinsale, County Cork since 1978, which currently employs over 2,300 people.
Limerick Chamber CEO, Dee Ryan welcomed the announcement, saying, “What a refreshing start to the year. Good news of a prestigious employer, bringing high-quality jobs to Limerick and making a huge commitment to the region that should give others the confidence to do the same.

“What a refreshing start to the year,” commented Limerick Chamber CEO, Dee Ryan.
“If I was advising someone filling in a CAO form this week, I’d recommend taking a careful look at the type of roles and qualifications in demand in biopharma, because undoubtedly, there are fantastic career opportunities in this growing hub in Limerick.”
Dr Pat Daly, Chief Executive of Limerick City and County Council said, “There has been a coordinated strategy to make Limerick a hub for the biopharma industry and today’s multi-million euro investment by Lilly is a further endorsement of this strategy.”
