This year holds special significance as the organisation celebrates 30 years of EYE

Engineers Ireland Thomond, in collaboration with European Young Engineers, is proudly organising a momentous four-day conference, marking the 52nd edition of this esteemed gathering.

This year holds special significance as the organisation celebrates 30 years of EYE, established in 1994 to foster innovation and collaboration within the engineering community.

In an announcement on the European Young Engineers website, the organisers said, “Over the years, our conferences have brought together members, experts, and leaders from various industries and fields to exchange knowledge, ideas, and experiences.

“This year’s conference will be no exception, and it will be an excellent opportunity for attendees to celebrate our organization’s history, reflect on our accomplishments, and plan for the future.”

The conference, scheduled to run from Thursday, May 16 to Sunday, May 19 promises a comprehensive agenda filled with enlightening sessions and engaging activities.

Kicking off with the registration of conference participants on Thursday, May 16,  the day will include an informal networking session in Dolan’s Bar. Attendees will be treated to the vibrant rhythms of Irish live music and captivating traditional dancers.

Friday, May 17 will see an array of company site visits where participants will have the chance to explore Ardnacrusha Power Station, showcasing Siemens’ pioneering international project. 

Also on Friday, the Future Mobility Campus Ireland in Shannon will unveil the latest advancements in transportation research, including drone navigation. Jaguar Land Rover’s cutting-edge facility in Shannon will then open its doors, providing an exclusive look into their testing grounds.

Saturday, May 18 marks a milestone as the conference takes place at the newly inaugurated TUS Coonagh Engineering campus and will feature distinguished speakers, including Alan Dooley, Head of Digital Innovation at Limerick City and County Council, Wassim Derguech, COO, and co-founder of Future Mobility Campus, and Vincent Cunnane, President of Technological University of the Shannon, will share insights on regional innovation. 

The evening will culminate in the Engineering Gala Dinner at the Limerick Strand Hotel, offering a prime opportunity for local businesses to connect with European Young Engineers and members of Engineers Ireland.

Concluding on Sunday, May 19, participants are invited to embark on an optional tour of King John’s Castle, enriching their experience with a glimpse into local history and culture.

Head of the Organising Committee at European Young Engineers, Denis Hardi noted, “I am genuinely excited about the upcoming conference and look forward to the enriching discussions, invaluable networking opportunities, and memorable experiences it promises to deliver.”
