Limerick’s Hermitage Green release their new single “Younger Days” off their upcoming album featuring Gregory David Roberts and Cillian King

Hermitage Green have made a large impact since the group’s foundation in 2010, wit the release of their first full-length album, ‘Save Your Soul’ which climbed the charts, to their last release ‘Hi Generation’ produced by Ireland’s own Phil Magee.

The Limerick band have released their latest track, the powerful and beautiful ‘Younger Days’ on Friday, November 3 which lead singer, Daniel Murphy, describes as a song reflecting on times gone by. The singer said the song was written with consideration for some of the things we have lost in modern society. ‘Younger Days’ also includes a spoken word piece from Australian author, Gregory David Roberts, best known for his critically acclaimed novel ‘Shantaram‘.

Daniel Murphy explained, “today we are being faced with a burgeoning mental health crisis, at a time when we are supposedly ‘more connected’ than ever before. ‘Younger Days’ tackles some subject matter that we have never discussed as a band before, and something we all feel strongly about.

“We invited Gregory David Roberts to write a spoken word piece for the song. Greg is a gifted writer and artist, who has experienced as wide a spectrum of highs and lows in this life as anyone. It was a great honour to have him collaborate with us, and to articulate the spirit of the song which such meaning.”

Gregory David Roberts’ spoken word monologue is the feature-piece but the Australian author said Murphy’s vocals on the track fills him “with the determination to go on, no matter what, and never give up on love and life”.

Roberts, whose life affirming messages have resonated with people across the world said, “My spiritual Teacher once said that the happy human being is one who is surrounded by Holy Souls. Dan Murphy is one of those Holy Souls, and it has been a happy honour to collaborate with him and Hermitage Green, to provide my little moment on their beautiful song, Younger Days.

“I feel a precious, wistful hope when I listen to Dan’s voice on this song, and it fills me with the determination to go on, no matter what, and never give up on love and life. In gratitude, and with Blessings to the Band and all the Holy Souls who hear their deeply empathetic music art.”

“Younger Days” was produced by Cillian King and was written by Cillian King, Gregory David Roberts, Daniel Murphy, Barry Murphy, Dermot Sheedy, Darragh Griffin and Darragh Graham.
