Legendary Artist Paul Weller has announced an intimate show in the glorious surroundings of King John’s Castle on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.
Speaking at this week’s announcement Mick Dolan expressed his delight at having “an incredible artist as our first announcement for the live at the castle shows in 2024”.
“Paul Weller is a true icon with a career spanning decades,” he said, adding, “Certainly one not to be missed.”
Weller’s decades of influence on British and global music began as frontman of The Jam where he produced hits such as ‘A Town Called Malice’, ‘That’s Entertainment’, and ‘Going Underground’.
The legendary frontman later continued his career with The Style Council bringing much-loved music such as ‘You’re The Best Thing’ and ‘Shout To The Top’, before embarking on a successful solo career which sees him take to the stages of the Sydney Opera House and Wembley Stadium.
The announcement of the King John’s Castle gig comes with the announcement of another show with Weller set to perform in Trinity College Dublin the following day on July 4.
Weller’s most recent album release came in 2021, ‘An Orchestrated Songbook‘ proved his voice has held up after such a long career.
His 2022 compilation, Will of the People, followed his 17th solo album An Orchestrated Songbook, which was recorded with award-winning arranger Jules Buckley and the BBC Orchestra.
The first announcement for the 2024 King John’s Castle gigs comes at the tail-end of an incredible 2023 for Dolan’s which saw a plethora of legends take to stages throughout Limerick from electronic music legends Kraftwerk to Irish rock royalty in The Stunning.
