The Lime Tree Theatre Aladdin open auditions for actors, dancers, and singers in the performance ensemble will take place this May 17

This year’s panto is Aladdin and his Magic Lamp, written by Mike Finn and directed by Michael Finneran. Noël Lennon is the music director, Pamela McGlynn is the choreographer and Sarah Lynch is the producer for the production.

Aladdin and his Magic Lamp will run for 34 performances from December 8, 2023, to January 7, 2024, in the Lime Tree Theatre, Limerick (V94 4D85). Rehearsals commence in Limerick on November 20th 2023.

We wish to invite performers between the ages of 18-30 years to attend an open audition in the Lime Tree Theatre on Wednesday, May 17 for the parts of Aladdin (m), Princess Yasmin (f) and the company ensemble.

Audition sessions will take place from;

  • 11am-1pm
  • 1pm-3pm
  • 3pm-5pm

Auditionees need only attend one.

A high level of performance in acting, singing and dancing is expected for the parts of Aladdin and Princess Yasmin. The performers offered these parts will be offered a professional contract.

Members of the ensemble will be of all genders and backgrounds. The majority of the members of the ensemble will be utilised in dancing and singing roles but some actors (all genders) will also be cast for dialogue parts. Auditionees must be between the ages of 18-30 years

 of age at the time of audition with some background and interest in the performing arts. No previous experience of formal stage performance or pantomime is necessary. We encourage auditionees of all physical abilities, ethnic backgrounds, genders and sexualities.

The performers in the ensemble will be treated as young professionals with a contract, payment in recognition of expenses and a structured training programme. The development of young performers in the ensemble is part of our performer training programme.

THE AUDITION

An audition can be applied for by completing the audition webform.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday 10th May, 4pm.

IMPORTANT AUDITION INFORMATION

All auditionees must be in a position to commit to the rehearsal and production schedule in full.

Please attend for audition appropriately dressed in suitable clothing and footwear.

The audition will consist of a group dance/drama workshop, followed by a brief individual singing audition with the production team members (Director, Music Director, Choreographer, Writer).

All auditionees are required to learn one of the songs from Disney’s Aladdin specified below.

  • Proud of Your Boy (Male)  and  A Whole New World (Female)

All auditionees will be sent a dance video in advance of the auditions on May 17. This will be taught again and rehearsed at the audition.
