Metis Ireland, the investment & financial planning Company based in O’ Connell Street are going on the run for Cliona’s Foundation and are asking people to join them in raising funds to help families caring for a seriously sick child.

They are hosting a 5km fun run on Thursday 11th April which will see participants follow the route of Shannon Bridge, out the Condell Road embankment and returning the same route.

The start time is scheduled for 6.30pm which will allow participant to finish work, get in gear, complete the distance and still have the rest of the evening to themselves.

The entry fee for the run is €20 with all proceeds going directly to Cliona’s Foundation.  The first 100 to register are also guaranteed an event specific t shirt.  The start and finish will be at the Clayton Hotel on Steamboat Quay, and the Clayton have very generously provided changing facilities and bag drop.  Check in is from 5pm at the Clayton Hotel.

The initiative is being driven by Metis Ireland team member and avid runner Ronan Queally who recognised that demand for 5km distance events and the fact that Limerick City would be ideal location for one. “I love to run short & middle distances “said Ronan “and in particular a 5km as it attracts people of all levels of fitness, can be great fun & can be completed in a relatively short period.”

“Metis Ireland are long-time supporters of Cliona’s Foundation & the amazing work they do & we were exploring ways of raising funds for them this year. We thought that a Limerick City 5km fun run would be the perfect opportunity to raise funds but also raise awareness and are asking the business community in Limerick City to get behind this event and support Cliona’s Foundation” continued Ronan.

Cliona’s Foundation are delighted to be a beneficiary of the event as they expect another year of increasing applications from families all over the Country. “Carl Widger & the team in Metis Ireland have been extremely supportive of our work over the past number of years” said Brendan Ring CEO & Founder of Cliona’s “& this event again is a sign of their commitment to make a difference to others. We are privileged to be on board and are working with them to ensure its success. We would love this to be the 1st of an annual event so we are encouraging people to register soon and be part of something very special!
