Speaking on behalf of the Munster Heart Foundation, Prof. Tom Kiernan & Dr Samer Arnous discuss heart attacks and heart disease in general.
Cardiovascular disease is the single most common cause of death in Ireland and across the western world. Heart disease is becoming more prevalent because of changes in lifestyle, diet, lack of exercise and smoking.
The cardiology department at University Hospital Limerick is a modern, state of the art facility providing 24-hour cardiac care to patients. It is one of just five nationally designated 24/7 Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention centres for STEMI.
The department at University Hospital Limerick provides this emergency heart attack service for the people of Limerick, Clare, Kerry, and Tipperary.
